Great news – our own choir started at Poynton Golden Memories in June. An aspiration led by Adam Garrow (PGM Band Leader) and Tim Webster (Poynton High School).
The Choir’s first song ‘Ten Smiles A Day’ was written and music choreographed by Tim Webster for his mother who had dementia.
The Choir, made up of PGM Members and Carers, has met a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Choir gathers for a session during the main PGM meeting and a room has been hired for them to practise in. Tim appreciates their enthusiasm and their singing voices.
Age UK “The power of music, especially singing, to unlock memories and kickstart the grey matter is an increasingly key feature of dementia care. It seems to reach parts of the damaged brain in ways other forms of communication cannot.”
